Offices that issue the DNI identity card in Spain

Where the police issue and renew cards, and how to get a time

The DNI is issued at Policía Nacional offices, and large cities can have several. Choose a city to see which offices handle identity cards, how to get an appointment and what to bring, for example evidence if you claim a fee exemption. The passport usually has its own booking at the same offices, so choose the right one. Confirm opening times and booking rules before you travel.

    Policía Nacional — DNI y Pasaporte SANTANDER-1

Calle José Ramón López Dóriga, 6, Santander

Renew your identity card in person at a place that is accessible for people with reduced mobility, after booking online.

Bring the old DNI (Spanish national identity card), fee payment or accepted payment method, and a compliant colour photograph, 32 × 26 mm, unless the confirmed equipment/service takes the photograph. For an address change, prepare a padrón certificate less than three months old; electronic verification has conditions and may fail after a recent move. Personal-data changes require a civil-register certificate less than six months old. Residents abroad use the required consular-address certificate, less than three months old. Minors and people requiring legal support must attend with the appropriate authorised person and identification. For a first DNI, the authority normally retrieves civil-register and address documents electronically, unless you object or retrieval fails. If you have no individual civil-register record, prepare a birth certificate issued specifically for the DNI within the previous six months. Confirm the documents needed for your case.
