Offices for registering your address in Spain

Registration is the same duty everywhere, but the counter varies by city

In Spain the town hall registers you, and each one organises it in its own way: through a central citizen service office, at district branches, or both. Pick a city to see which offices register newcomers, whether you need an appointment and what to bring. Confirm opening times and booking rules before you travel.

  • A Coruña

Registro General Palacio Municipal María Pita

Plaza de María Pita, 1, 15001 A Coruña

Book the appointment for registering or changing your address, not the one meant only for certificates.

Bring original, valid identification and proof of your right to occupy the home. The council accepts ownership evidence, a current habitual-residence lease lasting more than six months with the latest rent receipt, or an eligible recent utility bill. For a new utility connection, the contract may be accepted. Where authorisation is needed, bring the housing holder’s original ID; if other people are already registered there, the authorising adult must be registered there and hold housing rights. For children, bring original family or birth records and any required custody decision and parental consent; ask the office about the applicable authorisation form.

  • Alicante

    Calle Labradores 14, Centro 14, 03002 Alicante

One phone booking covers everyone registering at the same home, even if you are not one family.

Bring current original identification and the evidence for your housing situation. Tenants need the lease, latest rent payment and copies of every owner’s identity document. Someone not named on the lease needs authorisation from both owners and named tenants. Owners and hosted residents have separate checklists. For children, prepare birth or family records and the relevant parental consent or custody documents. Foreign official documents require sworn Spanish translations.

Documents must be in Catalan or Spanish, or accompanied by the original and an accepted translation. Authorisation documents are valid for three months.
