Offices that help with Cl@ve and digital ID in Spain

Not every office helps with every kind of digital ID

Help with digital identification is offered by different kinds of offices: Social Security branches, citizen-service offices run by the region or the city, and others. Some only help on set days or for one type of ID, so choose a city to see what each office does, how to arrange a visit and what to bring.

Cl@ve: Spanish applicants need a valid DNI (Spanish national identity card). Foreign applicants with NIE need a valid EU registration certificate, foreigner identity card or residence permit, plus a valid passport; EU citizens may use their valid national identity card instead of a passport. Documents without a support number, such as the international-protection application card, are not accepted for this registration. Bring your mobile number. For children, bring their required identity document, the accompanying adult’s identity document and proof of parental responsibility or guardianship, such as the family book, civil-register document or court appointment. For FNMT (Spain’s mint, which issues digital certificates), bring the request code received by email and valid identification. Spanish applicants may use DNI, passport or driving licence. EU applicants need an official NIE-bearing document plus passport or national identity card; other foreign applicants need the NIE-bearing foreigner document or official NIF/NIE allocation document plus passport. These are FNMT requirements, distinct from Cl@ve’s support-number restriction. For the notarised alternative, bring the FNMT contract with notarised signatures in original and copy, the holder’s original or certified-copy ID, and the attending person’s original or copied ID. Keep your request device available for the later download and make a certificate backup.
