Civil registries for registering events from abroad in Spain

Find out how your city’s registry wants you to start

Registries run this procedure in different ways: some ask for a phone call or email before anything else, others set up a specific appointment once your papers are ready, and married partners may both be asked to attend. Each registry also sets its own list of documents to prepare.

    Registro Civil de Málaga

Calle Fiscal Luis Portero García, s/n, 29010 Málaga

Your registered address must be in Málaga or a town in its court district, and you need to book an appointment.

Use the current official application and marriage data sheet, with the Spanish spouse as declarant. Prepare the updated full foreign marriage certificate; Spanish birth certificates for Spanish spouses and the foreign spouse’s birth certificate where applicable; copies of Spanish DNI (Spanish national identity card) and the foreign spouse’s NIE (foreigner identification number) or passport; and a padrón certificate from Málaga or its judicial district. Provide children’s birth-certificate copies for children of the marriage or a copy of the family book, plus proof that earlier marriages ended. Check legalisation/apostille and Spanish translation requirements for foreign records. Both spouses’ signatures are provided for on the application.
