Registries run this procedure in different ways: some ask for a phone call or email before anything else, others set up a specific appointment once your papers are ready, and married partners may both be asked to attend. Each registry also sets its own list of documents to prepare.

Confirm issuing-country legalisation and sworn-translation rules and any applicable EU or multilingual-document exemption before paying for these services. Do not book permission for a future wedding or request a copy of an existing Spanish entry instead. Civil registration is free; obtaining documents and translations can have separate costs. Ask the receiving office about expected handling times, notifications and any further Central or consular steps.
