Where to ask for social assistance in Spain

Neighbourhood centres, and in some regions benefit offices

Cities divide social services by district, so the centre that helps you often depends on your registered address. Open a centre to see what it offers, such as a social assessment, support with regional benefits or help for older people, and how to start by phone or appointment.

Avinguda del Maresme 182–190, 08918 Badalona

Ask about Catalan benefits for families, disability and low income, and get help with applying.

Identify the benefit or family title you need, then check its application form and supporting-document requirements. Ask the office which evidence applies to your household and whether you need an appointment. For an IMV request, have DNI/NIE, a contact email and your bank details ready; someone naturalised as Spanish within the last 3 years must also supply their former NIE (foreigner identification number). The Generalitat checks information it already holds and requests additional evidence where needed; specific separation, housing or vulnerability circumstances can require documents. The online link here is the IMV procedure, which accepts a digital certificate or idCAT Mòbil. For another benefit, use that benefit’s own procedure.

Ask which identity, household, care, housing or financial documents apply to the particular request. A social-services appointment does not itself approve money, accommodation or a specific benefit. Ask which documents and decision times apply to your particular request.
