Traffic offices for renewing a driving licence in Spain

Check how your city’s traffic office handles renewals

Provincial traffic offices renew and replace licences, and each sets its own booking routine, including priority windows for older drivers in some places. Choose a city to see which office handles renewals, whether to bring a medical report and when to book. Confirm opening times and booking rules before you travel.

Calle Barroeta Aldamar, 1, 48001 Bilbao

Pick the driving-licence renewal area when you book, and bring your medical report to the visit.

For DGT (Spain’s traffic authority) submission, prepare the completed official renewal application, accepted original identity and residence documents, a fitness report from an authorised centre issued within the preceding 90 working days, and the applicable fee number or payment evidence. At a medical centre, staff can take the photograph and arrange the application and fee. DGT does not require a new photo where it already holds the necessary image; agricultural LVA and reduced-mobility LCM licences have additional photo requirements. DGT counter fees are paid by card, not cash. A representative needs properly documented authorisation. Electronic filing requires accepted digital identification, clear scans and selection of the receiving DGT office; keep the receipt. Filing is not automatic approval and may require a later office visit. A provisional permit is valid for driving in Spain only; confirm travel arrangements before relying on it.
