Offices that issue a NIE to non-residents in Spain

Foreigners’ offices and police stations both take NIE requests

NIE requests in Spain go to the national police, either at a foreigners’ office (extranjería) or at a police station that deals with documents. Which branch takes yours can depend on your province and whether you come from the EU. What a branch handles, and how it arranges visits, varies, and at the visit you explain why you need the number.

    For non-residents

Comisaría de Jerez de la Frontera

Pl. del Arroyo n.º 46-47, Jerez de la Frontera

Get a certificate showing you are not resident in Spain, valid for three months after it is issued.

Prepare EX-15 for the certificate and the receipt for the correct 790-012 fee; confirm accepted identity evidence and the current fee before attending. The resolution period is five days from entry at the competent authority, not a guarantee of an appointment or same-day collection. Ask the office about notification and collection. If you need a first NIE (foreigner identification number) assignment rather than a certificate, confirm that exact service separately. The current fee for a certificate or report requested by the applicant is €7.31. Select the certificate item on model 790 code 012, rather than paying the new-NIE assignment charge.
