Offices that issue passports in German cities

Appointment types and collection rules vary by city

Passport applications are taken by the local passport authority, which in many cities is part of the citizens’ office. Standard and express appointments are not offered everywhere, finished passports are handed over in different ways, and some offices ask for your previous passport again at collection.

    Stadtamt Rathaus, Einwohner*innen-Angelegenheiten

    Fleethörn 9, 24103 Kiel

Book online, and pick up the finished passport without an appointment through the quick-collection service.

Bring existing identity or travel documents, required civil-status/name evidence and naturalisation evidence where relevant. Use a certified photographer’s secure digital-photo retrieval code; paper photos and scans are not accepted. Kiel’s terminals cannot generally photograph young children up to age seven, so arrange a certified photographer and confirm the age-specific requirements. The standard passport fee is €70 from age 24 or €37.50 below 24, with €32 extra for express and €22 for 48 pages. Confirm any other charges, actual production time and collection documents, including an old passport to surrender.
