Offices that issue passports in German cities

Appointment types and collection rules vary by city

Passport applications are taken by the local passport authority, which in many cities is part of the citizens’ office. Standard and express appointments are not offered everywhere, finished passports are handed over in different ways, and some offices ask for your previous passport again at collection.

Book the application, then a separate appointment to collect, because the city does not post passports.

Bring your previous ID card, passport or child passport, even if expired. If not already provided to this office, bring the birth certificate if unmarried or the marriage certificate otherwise. Use a digital passport photo from a registered provider or the paid on-site service; a paper photo alone is insufficient. Friedrich-Seele-Straße 7 can take photos of children under five, although the city recommends a certified studio for them. For authorised collection, use the official authority form and the collector’s ID; clarify what to bring for cancellation of the old document. Pay the current fee at application; ask about any urgent procedure before making travel plans.
