Offices where you can deregister in Germany

Post, online or in person: it depends on the city

You report your departure to the registration office of the place you are leaving, and you can often choose between a visit, a written form and an online request. Open your city to see which of these its offices accept and what identification to send or bring.

    Stadtamt Rathaus, Einwohner*innen-Angelegenheiten

    Fleethörn 9, 24103 Kiel

Walk in without an appointment, or apply by post, though a postal confirmation can only be sent to an address in Germany.

Complete and personally sign the official deregistration form and provide an identity document. For representation or postal submission, include a copy of your ID or passport and the required authorisation where applicable. Arrange a German address for the postal confirmation before relying on that route.
