Where to deregister in the Netherlands before you leave

Your own municipality takes your departure, so start with your city

You deregister from the municipality where you currently live, so pick that city. Each office shows whether a whole household can report online or everyone has to come in person, whether it can give a certificate of deregistration, and what to bring, such as ID for everyone who is leaving.

81 offices
  • 's-Hertogenbosch

    Stadskantoor ’s-Hertogenbosch

    Wolvenhoek 1, 5211 HH 's-Hertogenbosch

Report your departure online if the whole household leaves, or book a visit if anyone is staying behind.

Bring identification. If you need proof of deregistration, request it during the departure appointment. Once departure has already been reported, the municipality directs requests for that proof to an RNI (register for non-residents) desk. Do not use the online option when your household situation requires a personal visit.

  • Alkmaar

    Stadskantoor Alkmaar — Mallegatsplein

    Mallegatsplein 10, 1815 AG Alkmaar

Report your move in the last five days before you leave, online with DigiD or at an appointment at the city office.

Prepare your departure date and overseas address. Bring valid identification to the counter. You cannot report for an unmarried partner without a registered partnership; they must report themselves. Inform your bank, health insurer and DUO where applicable.

  • Almelo

    Stadhuis Almelo

Haven Zuidzijde 30, 7607 EW Almelo

It costs nothing to report your departure, either online with DigiD or at an appointment you arrange by phone.

Bring ID, your overseas address and your departure date. From age 16 you can report yourself. Married or registered partners may report for family members under the municipal conditions. If your destination requires proof of deregistration, ask about an RNI (register for non-residents) extract; reporting your departure is free, but that does not mean the extract is free.

  • Almere

    Stadhuis Almere — Burgerzaken

    Stadhuisplein 1, 1315 HR Almere

If the whole household is leaving, report online and get an email confirmation, otherwise book a visit in person.

For a Dutch Caribbean move, request the deregistration certificate during the visit because the local authorities need it. Check the appointment confirmation for the required documents. Do not select the online whole-household procedure if a family member remains registered at the address.

  • Alphen aan den Rijn

    Gemeentehuis Alphen aan den Rijn

Stadhuisplein 1, 2405 SH Alphen aan den Rijn

Report online or at the counter, but book a visit if you also want a departure certificate before you leave.

Bring the completed emigration form, valid ID and any residence document. Adults emigrating together must co-sign. Include the foreign address, country and departure details. For permitted postal reporting, include the required ID copies; partial-household departure still requires personal attendance.

  • Amersfoort

    Stadhuis Amersfoort — Burgerzaken

    Stadhuisplein 1, 3811 LM Amersfoort

Report online with DigiD or phone for an appointment, as the counter does not take walk-ins.

Have your departure details and foreign address ready, if known. Confirm the ID and family-attendance requirements when booking. If you need international proof of deregistration, ask before departure about the issue date and collection. If already abroad, contact the municipality rather than entering an inaccurate departure date.

  • Amstelveen

    Raadhuis Amstelveen

    Laan Nieuwer-Amstel 1, 1182 JR Amstelveen

Report online if the whole family moves to the same address abroad, otherwise everyone leaving must come in person.

Have your DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) or BSN (citizen service number) ready, plus the BSNs of the partner or children included. When one parent leaves with minor children and both parents share custody and live at the same address, bring written consent and identity-document copies from both parents.

  • Amsterdam

    Stadsloket Zuidoost

Anton de Komplein 150, 1102 CW Amsterdam

Walk in without an appointment from four weeks before you leave, and bring ID for every family member.

Have the departure date, current address and foreign address ready. Postal reporting is available when the whole family leaves together: use a signed letter with names and birth dates and the required identity copies. A cohabiting partner who is neither your spouse nor your registered partner must also sign and supply an identity copy. For a late postal report, the city uses the date it receives the letter as the moving date.

  • Apeldoorn

    Huis van de Stad Apeldoorn

    Marktplein 1, 7311 LG Apeldoorn

Report online if nobody stays at the address, otherwise book a visit and bring ID for everyone who is leaving.

An emailed processing confirmation is not an official deregistration certificate. A departure extract can be bought at the counter only on departure day; after departure request an RNI (register for non-residents) extract from an RNI municipality. Ask the receiving organisation what it accepts. For relocation to the six Dutch Caribbean islands, Apeldoorn supplies the required deregistration proof free.

  • Arnhem

    Stadhuis Arnhem — publieksbalies

    Koningstraat 38, 6811 DG Arnhem

Report online or book a visit, and note that the day the city receives your report becomes your departure date.

Bring identification. A postal application uses the signed official form and an ID copy sent to Gemeente Arnhem, Afdeling Burgerzaken, Postbus 9029, 6800 EL Arnhem. Proof costs €7.15 online or €12.50 at the counter, and is free for moves to Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius or Saba. Online proof can be posted; counter proof is immediate. Postal notifications do not include proof: request it separately from an RNI (register for non-residents) municipality, also for later replacement copies.

  • Assen

    Stadhuis Assen — Burgerzaken

Javastraat 15, Tijdelijk adres tijdens verbouwing stadhuis, 9401 KZ Assen

Use the online emigration form with DigiD, or book an appointment if family members stay at your old address.

If moving to Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius or Saba, ask Assen for proof of deregistration: it is needed for registration there and issued free of charge. Follow the form or appointment confirmation for the information and documents needed for your departure.

  • Barneveld

    Gemeentehuis Barneveld — Publiekszaken

    Raadhuisplein 2, 3771 ER Barneveld

Report in the last five days before you leave, as the day your form arrives becomes your departure date.

Bring valid identification for everyone involved. A departing child under 16 must attend with the parent, carer or guardian when someone remains at the address. Do not assume an unmarried partner can report for the other partner through the married-couple online route.

  • Bergen op Zoom

    Stadskantoor Bergen op Zoom

Jacob Obrechtlaan 4, 4611 AR Bergen op Zoom

Request a departure certificate along with your online notification, or phone to arrange a counter visit.

Provide destination country, first address abroad and departure date. Bring valid ID to the counter and ask which family members must attend. The departure report is free, but the certificate has a separate fee.

  • Bovenkarspel

    Gemeente Stede Broec — Burgerzaken

De Middend 2, Gemeentehuis, 1611 KW Bovenkarspel

Report with DigiD or phone for an appointment, and everyone leaving must come in if anyone stays at the address.

Prepare names and dates of birth for yourself and accompanying family, old address, destination country, new address and departure date. A written report must be signed and accompanied by ID evidence. Ask whether any departing children must attend and what documents they need. A counter departure confirmation is available free on the deregistration day; later proof is requested from an RNI (register for non-residents) service, not your former resident municipality.

  • Breda

    Gemeente Breda — Stadskantoor

Claudius Prinsenlaan 10, 4811 DJ Breda

Report up to a month before you leave, and your address change takes effect on the day you depart.

Prepare your departure date and overseas address if known. Confirm how accompanying family members must be included. If you need proof of deregistration for your new country, ask Breda about it before departure. For an already completed departure or a split household, contact the municipality for the appropriate next step.

  • Capelle aan den IJssel

Gemeentehuis Capelle aan den IJssel — Burgerzaken

Rivierweg 111, 2903 AR Capelle aan den IJssel

Report with DigiD or by post if nobody stays behind, otherwise walk in or book a departure appointment.

Provide your foreign address. Online reporting needs valid ID copies for every family member moving abroad. At the counter bring their valid passports, identity cards or driving licences. All departing members must attend when only part of the household leaves, including minors.

  • Delft

    Gemeente Delft — Stadskantoor

    Stationsplein 1, 2611 BV Delft

Report from five days before you leave and allow up to four weeks for the city to process it.

The written form asks for your identity and contact details, old and overseas addresses, move date, and names and birth dates of accompanying people. Sign it and attach ID copies for yourself and everyone moving with you. Send it through the municipal contact form or to Gemeente Delft, ID Gegevensmanagement, Postbus 78, 2600 ME Delft, The Netherlands. After moving, keep your overseas address and contact details updated through MyRNI with DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites).

  • Den Helder

    Stadhuis Den Helder

Willemsoord 66, 1781 AS Den Helder

Reporting is free, online with DigiD or in person if any family members stay at the address.

Provide the foreign address and departure details and bring valid ID. If the municipality accepts representation in your situation, its checklist asks for written permission, the representative’s ID and your ID copy. After departure, keep foreign address and contact details updated through MyRNI.

  • Deventer

    Stadhuis Deventer — Burgerzaken

Grote Kerkhof 1, 7411 KT Deventer

Book a personal appointment online or by phone, and check the location, as other branches take reports too.

Bring valid identification. Booking the visit does not itself report your departure.

  • Doetinchem

    Gemeente Doetinchem — Stadhuis

    Raadhuisstraat 2, 7001 EW Doetinchem

How you report depends on whether you live alone, the whole family leaves or only some of you do.

For a partial-family appointment bring valid ID for all family members and the new foreign address. Written notification needs an ID copy and a signed letter with old/new addresses and departure date; use a full signature, not initials. An unrelated housemate leaving with you must report separately.
