Offices where you can deregister in Germany

Post, online or in person: it depends on the city

You report your departure to the registration office of the place you are leaving, and you can often choose between a visit, a written form and an online request. Open your city to see which of these its offices accept and what identification to send or bring.

    Bürgerservice Mitte

    Sonnenwall 73-75, 47051 Duisburg

German and EU citizens can book a visit or send a written notice by post or fax, but email does not count.

Bring your identity card. A representative needs written authorisation, your identity card and their own identity card. Use the departure date and forwarding details when preparing your written notice.
