Offices where you can deregister in Germany

Post, online or in person: it depends on the city

You report your departure to the registration office of the place you are leaving, and you can often choose between a visit, a written form and an online request. Open your city to see which of these its offices accept and what identification to send or bring.

Bürgerdienste – Dienstleistungszentrum Innenstadt (EWO, KFZ)

    Südwall 2-4, 44137 Dortmund

Book a visit if you are leaving Germany, because a move to another German town closes your old registration by itself.

Bring your identity card or passport. For a child under 16, the reporting responsibility lies with the person whose home the child is leaving. If several family members are leaving, confirm the documents and representation arrangements for everyone when arranging the visit.
