Offices where you can deregister in Germany

Post, online or in person: it depends on the city

You report your departure to the registration office of the place you are leaving, and you can often choose between a visit, a written form and an online request. Open your city to see which of these its offices accept and what identification to send or bring.

    Allgemeine Bürgerangelegenheiten

    Friedrich-Seele-Straße 7, 38122 Braunschweig

Report your departure online or at a booked visit, as long as you are not taking another home in Germany.

Prepare identity evidence and the completed, signed departure form. For representation, supply signed authority and the relevant identity documents. Check online identification requirements before starting. A representative must also provide the required authority and the principal’s identity document. Confirm which identity originals and departure details the selected channel needs; a request for an appointment alone is not the deregistration.
