Where to report your move in your German city

Each city sets its own way of taking an address change

A move is reported to the registration office for the place you are moving to, not the one you are leaving. Some cities let you start online, others want a visit or a form by post, and the office tells you what to bring with you.

  • Schwerin

    Fachgruppe BürgerBüro – Stadthaus Schwerin

    Am Packhof 2–6, 19053 Schwerin

Report your move online where possible or in person, if you and your family are all German.

Bring identity documents, the registration form and the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung with the move-in date, address, provider details and names of the people moving in. For representation, ask about written authority and ID evidence. Families with matching move-in and address details can use a joint form; the office may request additional civil-status records.

    Landeshauptstadt Schwerin — Fachgruppe Ausländerbehörde

Am Packhof 2–6, Stadthaus, 19053 Schwerin

Report a move within Schwerin or from another German town if you or a family member is not German.

Bring identity documents, the landlord’s Wohnungsgeberbestätigung and applicable residence-status documents. Domestic arrivals also need an Aufenthaltsanzeige per person and their previous German address. Ask which civil records, custody consent or allocation decision apply to your circumstances.
