Social assistance for people in difficulty in Poland
Learn what the welfare centre can offer, how the social worker’s visit works and which centre covers where you live.
Update your meldunek at the office for the place where you now live
When you move to another home in Poland, you register at the new address with the office for your new place of residence, not the old one. You choose permanent or temporary registration, and the old address can be cancelled in the same step, since nobody can be registered at two permanent or two temporary addresses at once. Online registration with a Profil Zaufany, the free Polish government login, is open to Polish citizens and to EU, EEA and Swiss citizens; other foreign residents register in person.
How it works
Update your registered address after moving within the same country.
When you move within the country, you usually need to report your new address within a set period. Many places let you do this online with your digital ID; otherwise you report it at the town hall of your new municipality. Have your ID and proof of your new home ready, such as a rental contract or the owner’s permission, and include everyone moving with you. If you are arriving from abroad, use the registration for new arrivals instead.

City and district offices in Poland each run their own counter for address changes. Some take online requests, others only visits at the desk, and what they ask from foreign residents is not the same everywhere.
