Each city sets its own way of taking an address change

A move is reported to the registration office for the place you are moving to, not the one you are leaving. Some cities let you start online, others want a visit or a form by post, and the office tells you what to bring with you.

    Bring the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, your identity card or passport and the identity documents of everyone moving; the city specifically asks foreign nationals for a passport. Complete and sign the Meldeschein, which can be prepared beforehand or filled in at the counter. For children under 16, the person into whose home they move completes the registration form. A married family moving together may be registered by one adult; ask the office about any additional evidence or attendance required in your circumstances.
