Where to report your move in your German city

Each city sets its own way of taking an address change

A move is reported to the registration office for the place you are moving to, not the one you are leaving. Some cities let you start online, others want a visit or a form by post, and the office tells you what to bring with you.

    Bürgerservice Mitte

    Sonnenwall 73-75, 47051 Duisburg

The counter service is for German and EU citizens, so choose the address-change option when you book.

Bring your identity card and the housing provider’s Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung. Vehicle owners should also bring the vehicle registration certificate Part I and proof of a valid roadworthiness inspection. For households of more than six people, the city provides an additional housing-confirmation sheet.
