Where to report your move in your German city

Each city sets its own way of taking an address change

A move is reported to the registration office for the place you are moving to, not the one you are leaving. Some cities let you start online, others want a visit or a form by post, and the office tells you what to bring with you.

    Bürgerbüro Stadtmitte

An der Blauen Kappe 18, 86152 Augsburg

Your registration confirmation is included automatically, so there is no need to book a second appointment for it.

Bring your identity card and/or passport and those of all family members moving. Tenants need the housing provider’s Wohnungsgeberbestätigung; owners need an Eigenerklärung. The address in a German identity card or passport can be updated during the registration appointment, without a separate booking. If you are considering electronic registration, check the requirements of the online service first; a working eID alone is not enough for every type of move.
