Immigration offices for residence card fingerprints and collection

How your city’s office invites you and hands over the card

Not every Ausländerbehörde works the same way. Some invite you for fingerprints and a photo and send a second invitation when the card is ready, while others post the card or let you collect it at a counter. The details for your city show what its office does, how to arrange the visit and what to bring, such as your passport and any letter you received.

Have the QR code of a certified digital photo ready, because photos you take yourself are not accepted.

Obtain the certified digital photograph from an authorised studio or participating retailer and keep its QR code. Ask the provider how long the image remains available; do not assume every provider keeps it for six months. Bring your passport, existing eAT, invitation and requested case documents; replacement after a new passport may also require the old passport. The authority confirms individual fees and further evidence. Bring an interpreter if needed and confirm children’s attendance rather than assuming the fingerprint age rule exempts them.
