Immigration offices for residence card fingerprints and collection

How your city’s office invites you and hands over the card

Not every Ausländerbehörde works the same way. Some invite you for fingerprints and a photo and send a second invitation when the card is ready, while others post the card or let you collect it at a counter. The details for your city show what its office does, how to arrange the visit and what to bring, such as your passport and any letter you received.

Apply online first, then wait for the city to invite you to the appointment for your biometric data.

First send a copy of the new passport where required and a loss declaration if the card was lost. Follow the invitation for originals, photograph and further evidence. The replacement fee is €67. With proof of benefits you may get a reduction or exemption, but not if the card was lost. Check accepted payment methods and photo arrangements with the authority. No delivery time for the finished card is given, so ask the authority if you need it by a certain date.
