Immigration offices for residence card fingerprints and collection

How your city’s office invites you and hands over the card

Not every Ausländerbehörde works the same way. Some invite you for fingerprints and a photo and send a second invitation when the card is ready, while others post the card or let you collect it at a counter. The details for your city show what its office does, how to arrange the visit and what to bring, such as your passport and any letter you received.

Email the immigration office to arrange your visit, because the citizens’ service booking system does not cover it.

Use a certified photographer’s digitally transmitted image and bring its QR code, or use the office kiosk. The kiosk costs €6, payable electronically; arrive about 20 minutes early to use it. It cannot capture photos of children under six or people shorter than 1.20 m: use a certified provider instead. Ask separately about the card fee and collection arrangements; no fixed production time is promised.
