Immigration offices for residence card fingerprints and collection

How your city’s office invites you and hands over the card

Not every Ausländerbehörde works the same way. Some invite you for fingerprints and a photo and send a second invitation when the card is ready, while others post the card or let you collect it at a counter. The details for your city show what its office does, how to arrange the visit and what to bring, such as your passport and any letter you received.

    Kommunale Ausländerbehörde Düsseldorf

    Erkrather Straße 377–389, 40231 Düsseldorf

Request the appointment through the online contact form, because a replacement card cannot be arranged by phone.

Bring the new passport, old passport if available, existing residence document if available, and the biometric photograph required by the authority. Confirm the current digital-photo method before visiting and ask whether you need a certified provider’s photo code. The replacement fee is €67 for adults and €33.50 for minors, with separate rules for Swiss nationals and people covered by association rights. Ask about exemptions you can document; losing your card does not qualify for any of them. Payment is by EC card. Production takes several weeks. If an urgent journey is unavoidable, contact the office with proof of travel to ask about an exceptional interim document; do not assume you can travel in the meantime.
