Registry offices for birth, marriage and death certificates

Your home city may not be the right one: the place of the event decides

Choose the city that holds the entry you need. Each office shows how it takes orders, whether online, by post or at the counter, and what proof of identity or family relationship to bring. Delivery and payment rules differ, so check them before you order, and confirm opening times and booking rules before you travel to an office.

Order through the online portal or by phone, usually in one to two weeks, but not by email or fax.

Prepare identification, event names/date/place and, for a birth record, the parents’ names including birth names where known. Include an authorisation, ID copy or legal-interest evidence when required. Use the recipient’s requested ordinary, international or register-copy format. For a personal request, pay by debit card; do not rely on older information that mentions cash. For postal ordering use the registry’s postal instructions rather than assuming the visitor address is the mailing address.
