Registry offices for birth, marriage and death certificates

Your home city may not be the right one: the place of the event decides

Choose the city that holds the entry you need. Each office shows how it takes orders, whether online, by post or at the counter, and what proof of identity or family relationship to bring. Delivery and payment rules differ, so check them before you order, and confirm opening times and booking rules before you travel to an office.

    Hirschelgasse 32, 90403 Nuremberg

For urgent certificates, walk in on weekday mornings, or order online and allow about two weeks.

Bring official identification and an authorisation when acting for someone else. Prepare the person’s details, event type/date and required certificate format. Ask about any further entitlement evidence. If you need language help, the city requires an identified interpreter who speaks both languages and is neither related nor personally involved. Birth records beyond 110 years, marriage beyond 80 and death beyond 30 are referred to the city archive. The city provides a separate fee-free route for certificates for social authorities; ordinary requests carry a fee.
