Immigration offices for EU, EEA and Swiss residents

Each city’s immigration office has its own way of taking enquiries

These cases go to the local immigration office, which can be a city department, a district office or, in Berlin, the Landesamt für Einwanderung. Many ask you to email, phone or use a contact form before they give an appointment. Pick your city to see which cases its office handles and what to prepare, such as your passport and proof of your address.

Email the immigration authority with your name, birth date and reason for the visit to get an appointment.

Have your valid passport or Swiss identity card, entry date and residence details ready. The federal notification rule asks for current and previous names, birth details, addresses, nationalities, purpose, start and duration of residence, and any family relationship from which rights derive. Confirm the Swiss-specific document checklist, format and fee with the authority. If an electronic card is issued, the department accepts a certified digital-photo code or an on-site PointID photo; confirm the arrangements before visiting.
