Immigration offices for EU, EEA and Swiss residents

Each city’s immigration office has its own way of taking enquiries

These cases go to the local immigration office, which can be a city department, a district office or, in Berlin, the Landesamt für Einwanderung. Many ask you to email, phone or use a contact form before they give an appointment. Pick your city to see which cases its office handles and what to prepare, such as your passport and proof of your address.

Five years of presence alone are not enough, as you must have met the free-movement conditions throughout.

Have valid ID and your residence history ready, including evidence of the free-movement grounds and absences relevant to your case. Request the certificate-specific checklist and current fee from the team. The photo and family-document list for the combined service is not a confirmed checklist for this paper certificate. A contact enquiry is not an issued certificate.
