Immigration offices for EU, EEA and Swiss residents

Each city’s immigration office has its own way of taking enquiries

These cases go to the local immigration office, which can be a city department, a district office or, in Berlin, the Landesamt für Einwanderung. Many ask you to email, phone or use a contact form before they give an appointment. Pick your city to see which cases its office handles and what to prepare, such as your passport and proof of your address.

Email or phone the EU team first so your case is confirmed and an appointment can be set up.

Use the combined application form and select the Daueraufenthaltsbescheinigung option for EU nationals. You need an identity card or passport, pension-insurance history and, where needed, employment, self-employment or resources/health-insurance evidence. Ask what alternative evidence applies if you have no pension record. Bring originals and copies as instructed. The certificate fee is €10; confirm payment methods and any individual instructions.

Ask the info desk how to notify your stay and whether you need a document or an appointment.

Prepare a valid passport or Swiss identity card, current German address and entry details. The federal notification particulars include current and former names, birth date and place, addresses, nationalities, purpose, start and duration of residence, and the relevant family relationship. Ask which additional evidence, document format, fee and digital-photo arrangements apply to your case.
