Tax offices and city treasuries that issue certificates

Check the office responsible for you before you send a request

A tax certificate normally comes from the Finanzamt that is responsible for you, which is not always the one nearest to you. Certificates about money owed to a city come from its treasury instead. For each city you can see how its offices take requests, whether they want signed copies, and how the certificate reaches you.

    Finanzamt Aachen-Stadt

    Krefelder Straße 210, 52070 Aachen

Post the signed form in two copies to your responsible tax office, and check first that it is Aachen-Stadt.

Use the appropriate foreign-authority form or the German tax administration’s official form. Include your tax number or tax ID, personal details, the foreign country and income information, including the paying institution and securities-account details where applicable. Request the relevant income year. The returned certificate must be the original with the tax office’s signature and seal and no deletions. Confirm any additional requirements with the recipient; no issue date is promised.
