Offices for social assistance across Germany

Your address decides which office is yours

A single city can have many offices for living-cost support, each looking after certain districts or surnames, and some also help older people or people with disabilities. Look up your city to see what each office handles, how it wants to be contacted first and what to bring to the visit.

Book online or by phone, or go to the information desk for an urgent visit without an appointment.

Complete the application and requested evidence, including the relevant income and asset information, and provide contact details for questions. Save completed PDF forms on your device before uploading them, otherwise empty forms may be sent. Scans or document photos are accepted. Postal correspondence goes to Jobcenter Leipzig, Postfach 100831, 04008 Leipzig. Since 1 July 2026, SGB (German Social Code) II cash support is called Grundsicherungsgeld. You may still see the older name Bürgergeld on some forms and letters. Existing decisions remain valid; do not submit a new claim solely because the benefit was renamed. Official forms and online services may still show the old name during the transition. Continue to follow your own renewal dates, evidence requests and change-reporting duties.
