Offices for social assistance across Germany

Your address decides which office is yours

A single city can have many offices for living-cost support, each looking after certain districts or surnames, and some also help older people or people with disabilities. Look up your city to see what each office handles, how it wants to be contacted first and what to bring to the visit.

Amt für Soziales Mitte — Grundsicherung und Hilfe zum Lebensunterhalt

    Müllerstraße 146, 3. Etage, Raum 337; Haupteingang, 13353 Berlin

If you live in Mitte, go to the town hall’s central intake and check the current visiting arrangements first.

Prepare the social-assistance form and relevant annexes, valid identity documents and any residence evidence, income and asset records, bank statements, lease/rent changes, health/care-insurance evidence and the applicable reduced-earning-capacity decision. The exact checklist depends on the household and case; ask which bank-statement period applies. For questions use [email protected]. Tell staff immediately if you have no money or an expected payment has not arrived; urgent need assessment is different from resolving every question in an existing case.
