Tax offices for non-residents in Germany

Check which Finanzamt covers your employer or income, then see how to reach it

These are Finanzämter, the state tax offices, or their service centres. Pick a city to see what the office does for people who live abroad, whether you need an appointment and which documents to bring, usually photo ID.

    Finanzamt München — Servicezentrum

    Deroystraße 12, 80335 Munich

Book an appointment and bring photo ID for general advice, though no tax ID is issued on the spot.

Prepare form 010250, an identity-document copy, your foreign correspondence address and the employer details needed to identify the competent tax office. Follow the current form’s checklist for further evidence. ELSTER (the German online tax portal) submission requires an appropriate existing account: filling in or saving the federal form does not send it. Without that account, use the signed-paper alternative and confirm the correct submission address. Do not assume the tax ID is issued during a service-centre visit.
