Tax offices for non-residents in Germany

Check which Finanzamt covers your employer or income, then see how to reach it

These are Finanzämter, the state tax offices, or their service centres. Pick a city to see what the office does for people who live abroad, whether you need an appointment and which documents to bring, usually photo ID.

    For non-residents

Finanzamt Chemnitz-Süd — Informations- und Annahmestelle

    Paul-Bertz-Straße 1, 09120 Chemnitz

This is for construction employees living and employed in Romania, Slovakia or Czechia, so phone first to confirm.

Complete the correct tax-ID form and attach identity evidence, such as a passport or identity-card copy, as the office requests. Keep any existing tax-ID information available: do not request a second number. Ask whether your payroll case needs a separate paper wage-tax certificate; there are exceptions to ordinary ELStAM use.
