Applications and collection work differently in each city
You apply at the municipality where you are registered, and each one sets its own routine. Some ask you to book ahead, some need a second visit to hand over the card and some deliver it. Dutch citizens who live abroad can also use certain border municipalities.

Book separate appointments for applying and collecting, and allow about six working days in between.
Bring all existing passports and identity documents, even expired ones, any foreign travel document, and a compliant colour photo up to six months old. For collection bring the collection slip, valid ID and documents to surrender.
