Where to apply for a Dutch identity card

Applications and collection work differently in each city

You apply at the municipality where you are registered, and each one sets its own routine. Some ask you to book ahead, some need a second visit to hand over the card and some deliver it. Dutch citizens who live abroad can also use certain border municipalities.

  • Maastricht

    Gemeente Maastricht – GemeenteLoket

Mosae Forum 10, 6211 DW Maastricht

Book a separate appointment for every applicant, children included, then collect without an appointment.

Bring every passport and identity card you hold, including expired documents, and a compliant colour photograph taken within six months. Bring the old documents again at collection. Report a missing document to the municipality.

    For non-residents

    Gemeente Maastricht – GemeenteLoket

Mosae Forum 10, 6211 DW Maastricht

Submit your documents online first, then book the in-person appointment once the city sends you an invitation.

Bring all original documents to the appointment. Belgian residents need an extract from their municipality stating nationality and civil status; a Belgian residence document, passport, ID card or birth certificate alone is insufficient proof of main residence. Use the individual checklist for other requirements.
