Where to apply for a Dutch identity card

Applications and collection work differently in each city

You apply at the municipality where you are registered, and each one sets its own routine. Some ask you to book ahead, some need a second visit to hand over the card and some deliver it. Dutch citizens who live abroad can also use certain border municipalities.

    Gemeente Haarlem — Publiekshal Raakspoort

    Zijlvest 39, 2011 VB Haarlem

Walk in on weekday mornings, urgent requests included, or book ahead, and collect later without an appointment.

Bring all passports and identity cards, including expired ones, a compliant colour photo and your HaarlemPas if held. For children under 12, both parents/guardians must consent. An absent parent uses the DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) consent form, dated within four weeks of the appointment; the accompanying parent brings ID. The hall’s photo equipment is only for ages 12 and over; have the photo ready before the appointment.
