Where to apply for a Dutch identity card

Applications and collection work differently in each city

You apply at the municipality where you are registered, and each one sets its own routine. Some ask you to book ahead, some need a second visit to hand over the card and some deliver it. Dutch citizens who live abroad can also use certain border municipalities.

Book online and arrange your collection appointment while you apply, then bring your collection slip and old document.

Bring all valid and expired Dutch and foreign passports and ID cards, one compliant colour photo no older than six months, and payment. For children under 12, obtain consent from everyone with parental authority. Each parent can consent digitally; paper consent is also possible with signed and dated ID copies. Consent normally lasts three months and ends if parental authority changes.
