Where to apply for a Dutch identity card

Applications and collection work differently in each city

You apply at the municipality where you are registered, and each one sets its own routine. Some ask you to book ahead, some need a second visit to hand over the card and some deliver it. Dutch citizens who live abroad can also use certain border municipalities.

    Stadhuisplein 1, 3811 LM Amersfoort

Book two appointments, one to apply and one to collect, and ask about a home visit if you cannot attend.

Bring a compliant colour photograph no older than six months and all Dutch travel documents, including expired ones. Under-12s need consent from every person with parental responsibility. Advance consent is valid for three months and can use DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) or the signed paper form; follow the ID requirements for that option. Ask Burgerzaken about an overseas parent unable to consent online. Payment is by debit card; arrange help beforehand if needed.
