Employment agencies for jobseeker registration in Germany

Each agency covers a set of addresses, so start with your city

Registering is easiest online or on the free national phone line, but the local Agentur für Arbeit is the office that advises you afterwards. Start with your city: you will see which branch covers your address, whether you can drop in or need to book, and why you should use only one way of registering.

If no new job starts, register as unemployed online with an accepted eID or in person by your first day without work.

Have your expected employment-end date and contact details ready. Prepare your qualifications, employment history and job preferences for counselling. For personal unemployment registration bring an identity card showing your current address, or a passport/replacement document together with a current registration certificate. Online unemployment registration requires accepted electronic identification through BundID (German federal online account); a normal online account alone is insufficient. Keep your registration confirmation and tell the agency if the end date changes.
