Employment agencies for jobseeker registration in Germany

Each agency covers a set of addresses, so start with your city

Registering is easiest online or on the free national phone line, but the local Agentur für Arbeit is the office that advises you afterwards. Start with your city: you will see which branch covers your address, whether you can drop in or need to book, and why you should use only one way of registering.

Register online or by phone and the agency can then go through your skills, experience and job goals with you.

Prepare the expected employment end date and details of qualifications, experience and job goals. If the end date changes, tell the agency rather than registering again. You must separately register as unemployed, online with accepted electronic identification or in person, by the first unemployment day; this can be done up to three months ahead. For a personal unemployment notification bring an ID showing your current address, or passport/replacement document plus a current registration certificate. Ask about illness-related exceptions if relevant.
