Social assistance in Belgium
For people who cannot cover rent, food or other essentials: what the local social welfare centre can arrange and how to ask for an appointment.
Certificates come from the integration agency for your region
Newcomers to Belgium may have to follow an integration programme, with lessons about life in Belgium and a language course, depending on their residence status and where they live. The agency that ran your programme issues the certificate when you finish and can usually provide a copy later, and some agencies also confirm the language level you reached. Later applications, such as for Belgian citizenship, can ask for it.
How it works
Request the integration or housing report, or the language certificate, your residence application needs.
Some residence and citizenship applications require extra documents. In Spain, for example, the town hall issues integration and housing reports for certain permits and for family reunification, while in Poland and other countries you may need a certificate from an official language exam. Find out exactly which document the immigration office accepts before you pay for a course, an exam or a report. You usually apply with your ID, proof of address and details of your application. These documents support your application but do not grant residence on their own.

Contact the agency before you visit
The agency that handled your programme in your region is the one to ask, and several of them want a call or an email before you come. Every agency works a little differently, so check how yours deals with certificates.
