Social assistance in Belgium
For people who cannot cover rent, food or other essentials: what the local social welfare centre can arrange and how to ask for an appointment.
A certificate of residence from your municipality or online
You may need written proof of where you are registered, for instance for a bank or for paperwork abroad. In Belgium this is a certificate of residence, which can also show your address history or who lives in your household. Ask your municipality at the counter or through its online desk, or download one yourself with your electronic ID through the national Mon DOSSIER service. Check with whoever asks for it which version they accept.
How it works
Order an official certificate or extract showing where you are registered.
Employers, banks, schools and authorities often ask for official proof of your registered address. Depending on the country, this is a registration certificate, an extract from the population register or a household certificate. Check exactly which document and language the recipient needs, as the versions contain different details. Many places let you order it online with your digital ID; otherwise you can get it at the town hall, sometimes for a small fee.

Counter, terminal or online, depending on the town
Collecting the certificate at the counter without an appointment is possible in some towns, while others issue it online or post it to your registered address. If you download the certificate online, the digital version is the valid one.
