Setting up your electronic ID
Understand what the electronic ID is for, how it is activated and where to go when you need help with the first setup.
Proof of the hours you studied and the lessons you attended
When you apply for a permanent residence permit, the Directorate of Immigration expects proof that you completed an Icelandic course for foreigners, or that you passed a recognised language test. Your course provider can document your hours and attendance. Adult education centres around Iceland handle these requests, so ask the school where you studied.
How it works
Request the integration or housing report, or the language certificate, your residence application needs.
Some residence and citizenship applications require extra documents. In Spain, for example, the town hall issues integration and housing reports for certain permits and for family reunification, while in Poland and other countries you may need a certificate from an official language exam. Find out exactly which document the immigration office accepts before you pay for a course, an exam or a report. You usually apply with your ID, proof of address and details of your application. These documents support your application but do not grant residence on their own.

Ask the centre where you took the course
Adult education centres and language schools in places such as Akureyri, Keflavík and Vestmannaeyjar can document the hours you studied and how often you attended.
