Where to get proof of your address in the Netherlands

Compare counter and online options in your city

You ask for the extract from the municipality where you are registered, so start with your city. Each office shows whether it hands the extract over on the spot or posts it after an online request, and which versions it can issue. If you live abroad, some offices also handle extracts from the non-residents register.

  • 's-Hertogenbosch

    Stadskantoor ’s-Hertogenbosch

    Wolvenhoek 1, 5211 HH 's-Hertogenbosch

Request it online and allow time for the post, or book a counter appointment if you need it sooner.

Confirm which details the recipient requires. A parental-authority BRP (Dutch population register) extract is available in Dutch and English; select it explicitly when needed for a child. A residence extract is different from a birth or marriage certificate.

  • Alkmaar

    Stadskantoor Alkmaar — Mallegatsplein

    Mallegatsplein 10, 1815 AG Alkmaar

Apply with DigiD and wait for the post, or book a counter appointment to get it straight away.

Check which fields and languages the recipient needs before ordering. Requests for someone else require a counter appointment, authorisation form, copy of their ID and your own ID.

  • Alkmaar

    For non-residents

    Stadskantoor Alkmaar — Mallegatsplein

    Mallegatsplein 10, 1815 AG Alkmaar

Apply online with or without DigiD, even if you have never lived in Alkmaar.

Bring the completed RNI (register for non-residents) request form, valid passport or ID card and payment card for PIN payment. A representative also needs the authorisation form, your ID copy and their own ID. Data changed after emigration may not be reflected in the RNI.

  • Almelo

    For non-residents

    Stadhuis Almelo

Haven Zuidzijde 30, 7607 EW Almelo

Apply online and the extract is sent to your address abroad within a few days, plus delivery time.

Choose a standard BSN/current-address extract, address history or multilingual extract with emigration date and marital status. Bring valid ID for a counter request. Representatives need the completed authorisation form and identity evidence for themselves and the applicant; they pay at the counter. Check your registered address first: fees are not refunded when no extract can be issued because registration is missing or the address is wrong.

  • Almelo

    Stadhuis Almelo

Haven Zuidzijde 30, 7607 EW Almelo

Order it online or at a counter appointment, and pick the free housing association option if that is who asks.

At the counter bring ID and a bank card. For a representative, prepare the written authorisation, no older than three months, and the applicant’s ID copy as well as the representative’s ID. Check the required information before ordering: the processing fee is not refunded if an extract cannot be provided.

  • Almere

    Stadhuis Almere — Burgerzaken

    Stadhuisplein 1, 1315 HR Almere

Order online with DigiD, or book a visit to citizens’ services if it is urgent or you have no DigiD.

Bring valid ID and a payment card. A representative needs the completed authorisation form, a copy of your ID and their own ID. Ask Ymere, de Alliantie or Goede Stede whether they actually need an address-history extract before paying for one.

  • Alphen aan den Rijn

    Gemeentehuis Alphen aan den Rijn

Stadhuisplein 1, 2405 SH Alphen aan den Rijn

Order with DigiD and it is normally posted within three working days, or book the counter if you have no DigiD.

Specify the exact details required by the receiving organisation. Bring valid ID to the counter and the necessary authorisation if acting for someone else. An incorrectly selected extract is not refunded. A later extract of emigration details belongs with an RNI (register for non-residents) municipality.

  • Amersfoort

    Stadhuis Amersfoort — Burgerzaken

    Stadhuisplein 1, 3811 LM Amersfoort

Apply with DigiD and say what you need it for, so the town hall includes the right details.

For a written or email request, include your name, address, purpose and ID copy. A payment request comes first. Documents requested online are posted within five working days; this is dispatch, not guaranteed delivery. Check the current fee and select the correct document: incorrect orders are not refunded.

  • Amstelveen

    Raadhuis Amstelveen

    Laan Nieuwer-Amstel 1, 1182 JR Amstelveen

Apply online with DigiD or book a visit to the town hall, and ask for extras such as address history when needed.

Bring a valid passport or identity card for a counter visit. A representative brings their own valid passport or identity card; the municipality checks the submitted authorisation. State the purpose and required extra information. International extracts are available in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Turkish. Birth, marriage or divorce evidence requires a civil-register certificate instead.

  • Amsterdam

    Stadsloket Zuidoost

Anton de Komplein 150, 1102 CW Amsterdam

Walk in without an appointment and get it handed over, or apply online and receive it by post.

Bring a valid passport, identity card, driving licence or residence permit and be ready to pay the applicable fee. A representative needs the completed authorisation form, their own valid identification and your valid identification or a copy or scan. State the purpose of the extract and whether an international version or older address history is required.

  • Apeldoorn

    Huis van de Stad Apeldoorn

    Marktplein 1, 7311 LG Apeldoorn

Order it online to be posted home, or book the town hall counter and take it with you at once.

Bring valid identification and payment; the counter prefers card. Choose standard, housing/address history, marital status, BSN (citizen service number), parental responsibility or international extract as required. The parental-responsibility version is Dutch/English; the international version has a fixed set of fields. Ask the receiving organisation how recent it must be. For housing applications, a digital copy appears under Burgerzaken in Mijn Apeldoorn once created; the official security-paper extract follows by post.

  • Arnhem

    Gemeente Arnhem — Loket Zuid

    Kronenburggalerij 3, 6831 ET Arnhem

Apply online, book a counter visit or write a letter, and bring identification if you come in person.

Always state why you need the extract and which details it must contain. The standard version gives identity, birth and address details; residence history normally covers addresses from 1 October 1994, with earlier history requiring contact. International marital-status/nationality extracts offer Dutch/French/German/English or Dutch/Spanish/Italian/Turkish. A postal request must identify the subject by name and birth date, state the purpose and your name/address, be signed and include your ID copy.

  • Arnhem

    Stadhuis Arnhem — publieksbalies

    Koningstraat 38, 6811 DG Arnhem

If someone goes to the counter for you, they need their own ID, a copy of yours and your signed authorisation form.

• Assen

    Stadhuis Assen — Burgerzaken

Javastraat 15, Tijdelijk adres tijdens verbouwing stadhuis, 9401 KZ Assen

Order online with DigiD, and it usually arrives at home within five working days.

Choose the extract suited to its purpose. Assen offers an extract for travel with a child under 18 showing the child’s details and parental authority; ask whether it replaces travel consent. For records before 1 October 1994, contact the municipality where you lived at that time.

  • Barneveld

    Gemeentehuis Barneveld — Publiekszaken

    Raadhuisplein 2, 3771 ER Barneveld

Apply with DigiD and pay online, and book the counter instead if you need it urgently.

Check which information and language the receiving organisation requires before ordering. For a counter appointment, check the confirmation for identification and payment requirements. Online dispatch within three working days does not mean delivery or a downloadable certificate that day.

  • Bergen op Zoom

    Stadskantoor Bergen op Zoom

Jacob Obrechtlaan 4, 4611 AR Bergen op Zoom

Order online with DigiD, but book a counter appointment if you need a family extract.

Bring valid ID to the counter. An authorised representative must be an adult, show their own ID and your ID copy, and bring a written authorisation signed by both of you. Explain the document’s intended use in the appointment comments.

  • Bovenkarspel

    Gemeente Stede Broec — Burgerzaken

De Middend 2, Gemeentehuis, 1611 KW Bovenkarspel

Apply with DigiD, or use the counter if you have no DigiD or are applying for someone else.

Bring valid identity evidence. A representative brings written authorization, a copy of the applicant’s identity document and their own valid ID. State the purpose and required fields or language so you do not pay for the wrong version.

  • Breda

    For non-residents

    Gemeente Breda — Stadskantoor

Claudius Prinsenlaan 10, 4811 DJ Breda

Apply online and it is posted within two weeks, or book the extract appointment and get it at the counter.

Choose the record needed by the receiving organisation and provide an accurate delivery address. Follow the application form’s identification and evidence requirements; Breda may request additional information. Allow for international post when planning a deadline.

  • Capelle aan den IJssel

Gemeentehuis Capelle aan den IJssel — Burgerzaken

Rivierweg 111, 2903 AR Capelle aan den IJssel

Order online with DigiD or drop by the document service, and phone for an appointment if its hours do not suit.

Bring valid ID and payment for a counter visit. For representation, use the municipal authorisation form and follow its ID instructions: it asks for the applicant’s valid ID copy and the representative’s original ID. Confirm the exact details and international format required before paying; a request to the wrong municipality is not refunded.

  • Delft

    Gemeente Delft — Stadskantoor

    Stationsplein 1, 2611 BV Delft

Apply online with DigiD for a certified PDF you forward digitally, since a printout is not valid.

Check which extract and details the receiving organisation needs before ordering. A representative must bring their valid identification, a copy of yours and the completed signed authorisation form from the city’s website. Choose a paper extract if the recipient cannot accept the certified electronic file.
