Municipal passport counters in the Netherlands

Booking and collection options, city by city

Passports are handled by the municipality where you are registered, and larger cities run more than one counter. Some counters let you walk in, others require a booking, and collection or delivery works differently too. Which office takes applications for an alien’s or refugee passport also depends on the city. Dutch citizens who live abroad can also use certain border municipalities.

  • Maastricht

    Gemeente Maastricht – GemeenteLoket

Mosae Forum 10, 6211 DW Maastricht

Book a separate appointment for every applicant, and children from age six must come to collect it too.

Bring every passport and identity card you hold, including expired documents, and a compliant colour photograph taken within six months. Bring the old documents again at collection. Report a missing document to the municipality.

  • Maastricht

    For residence permit holders

    Gemeente Maastricht – GemeenteLoket

Mosae Forum 10, 6211 DW Maastricht

Two visits are needed, a first one for the approval form and a second after your approval letter arrives.

Bring the current residence document, any existing alien’s passport including expired ones, any home-country passport and a compliant colour photo no older than six months. Confirm the evidence needed to show you cannot obtain a national passport. Under 18, all holders of parental authority must consent; a sole guardian consents alone. Maastricht accepts DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) consent for residents in the Netherlands or its printed form, given no more than one month before the appointment. Follow the approval letter’s final checklist.

  • Maastricht

    For non-residents

    Gemeente Maastricht – GemeenteLoket

Mosae Forum 10, 6211 DW Maastricht

Submit your documents online for every family member, and wait for the invitation before booking your visit.

Bring all original documents to the appointment. Belgian residents need an extract from their municipality stating nationality and civil status; a Belgian residence document, passport, ID card or birth certificate alone is insufficient proof of main residence. Use the individual checklist for other requirements.
