Municipal passport counters in the Netherlands

Booking and collection options, city by city

Passports are handled by the municipality where you are registered, and larger cities run more than one counter. Some counters let you walk in, others require a booking, and collection or delivery works differently too. Which office takes applications for an alien’s or refugee passport also depends on the city. Dutch citizens who live abroad can also use certain border municipalities.

Bring all passports and identity cards, including expired documents, a compliant passport photo taken within the last six months, and a debit or credit card. For applicants under 18, each person with parental authority gives separate consent using their own DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites); parents who have completed the online consent need not attend. Bring the old documents when collecting.

Bring your regular residence permit, a compliant photo no older than six months, all Dutch and foreign passports including expired ones, and debit or credit card. For a first application bring proof of non-issue, such as an embassy refusal. Under 18, each person with parental authority gives separate DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) consent. Once consent is recorded, parents need not attend; the child always attends application and collection. For a missing old passport, bring another valid ID and report the loss.
