Help points for DigiD and online government in the Netherlands

Library help points and municipal desks, city by city

Many libraries run an Informatiepunt Digitale Overheid, a help point where staff or volunteers explain DigiD, government messages and online forms, usually without asking you to be a member. Some city halls offer the same on request. Opening days are often limited, so open a place to see when it is staffed and whether to book.

Apply for DigiD first, then book a visit to collect the code, which every applicant must do in person, children too.

Bring the valid counter code, BSN (citizen service number), passport or identity card and the phone number’s handset used in your application. A Belgian residence E-card is not sufficient ID. Have your username and password available for activating the account yourself. If DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) rejects inconsistent RNI (register for non-residents) details, correct those details before proceeding.
