Offices for Dutch birth, marriage and death certificates

Pick the city where the event was registered

A certificate can only be issued by the municipality that registered the birth, marriage, partnership or death, and moving to another city later does not change that. Requests may go in online with DigiD, by post or at the counter, depending on the office, and the document reaches you in different ways. A valid ID is required.

    Lübeckplein 2, 8017 JZ Zwolle

Order with DigiD or book a counter visit, and make sure Zwolle is where the birth, marriage or death was recorded.

Bring valid identification. For birth, provide the person’s names; for marriage, both spouses’ names, marriage date, purpose and payment card or cash; for divorce, provide the marriage date; for death, provide the death date and surname. Birth international CIEC explanations include French, German, English, Spanish, Italian and Turkish without an international-format surcharge. The separate paid EU standard form includes languages such as Polish and is for EU use only. Confirm any legalisation requirement. Zwolle directs old birth records over 100 years, marriage over 75 and death over 50 to Collectie Overijssel; archive scans are not automatically current certified extracts.
