Offices for Dutch birth, marriage and death certificates

Pick the city where the event was registered

A certificate can only be issued by the municipality that registered the birth, marriage, partnership or death, and moving to another city later does not change that. Requests may go in online with DigiD, by post or at the counter, depending on the office, and the document reaches you in different ways. A valid ID is required.

    Servicepunt XL De Burcht

Stortenbekerstraat 201, 2525 SE The Hague

Walk in for help filling in the online birth certificate application, and bring someone you trust if you like.

Have the person’s birth details and the requested certificate format ready. Without DigiD (the Dutch digital ID for government websites) the municipality requests an applicant ID copy; representation, inheritance or authorisation needs additional proof. Ask the receiving organisation which format it needs. Help is free, but the municipal birth-certificate request costs €17.80 plus postage and requires payment before assessment. The municipality dispatches the certificate within five weeks; allow postal delivery time. Use your own login and never email secret credentials.

  • The Hague

    Servicepunt XL Julianakerk

Schalk Burgerstraat 219, 2572 TV The Hague

Get hands-on help with the online birth certificate form, though a complex request may need an appointment.
